The Digital Buildings Council (DBC), in collaboration with the original co-authors, is undertaking a comprehensive review and revision of the RIBA Smart Buildings Overlay to the RIBA Plan of Work. The initial Overlay, launched in March 2024, provided a vital framework, and our collective aim now is to evolve it into Version 2.0, with a major focus on ensuring crucial handover and operational stages are truly smart and integrated.
This is a critical industry-wide initiative, and your expertise is vital to its success. While the DBC and the original authors are facilitating this review, we are actively inviting professionals from across the entire built environment to contribute.
The updated Overlay is set to provide enhanced guidance for the design, delivery, and, crucially, the long-term performance of smart buildings. Your insights will directly help us:
