Sam Norledge has recently joined DBC founding member LMG as Head of Smart Buildings. Sam enthusiastically supports the digital transformation of the built environment and drives innovation by connecting digital construction and operational data domains.
Offering a unique perspective with over ten years of practical experience in the AEC industry. Sam combines a deep awareness of the problems faced by main contractors during a digital transformation stage with a strong desire to use cutting-edge technology to produce greener, more digital buildings.
He is an expert in data integration, BIM, IoT, and building automation. By committing to open standards and open-source solutions, Sam is enabling industry transparency and interoperability.
Sam is now leading Building SMART UK & Ireland‘s innovative IoT interoperability project. This project aims to transform the application of the Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) standard, meeting the industry’s urgency for flexible data exchange. With his recent Master’s degree in Building Information Management and a wealth of expertise, Sam is seeking to make the most of IFC’s potential to enable more innovative, sustainable, and efficient buildings.
He aims to provide a coherent framework for smart building data by working with key industry stakeholders. This collaboration will improve interoperability and bring substantial benefits to all parties. Its relentless commitment to a data-based future in which buildings work more intelligently rather than with more effort demonstrates its dedication to promoting innovation in the field of AEC
As an avid speaker and thought leader who regularly shares his knowledge and ideas. He has presented at conventions such as the London Build Expo, Futurebuild and the BuildingSMART International Standards Summit. In his forthcoming presentations at the BIM Coordinator Summit 2024 and Proptech Connect 2024, he will discuss IoT-BIM interoperability and its effects on ESG and ROI in more detail.
Sam is a change agent and a subject expert. In his ideal future, data silos are eliminated, communication is smooth and digital building technology is fully exploited. His enthusiasm, knowledge and vision are driving the industry towards a built environment that is truly intelligent and sustainable.
He has recently written on The power of BIM-IoT integration to drive ESG and demonstrate true ROI for PBC Today with contributions from fellow DBC members. You can catch Sam on the LMG stand at PropTech Connect in InterContinental London by the O2 from 4-5 September. He’ll be speaking there on the Innovation Stage at 1:30 on Wednesday 4th.
